Not the right season but I finished the binding on this quilt last week so wanted to share it. We have Christmas in July so why not Independence Day in November? It’s called Glory Days and is a Nancy Rink Designs kit. I purchased it at The Quilt Box in Dry Ridge, KY on one of our many trips to GA last year. (July 2014 to be more exact). The Quilt Box is a great place to take a break and not too far off the highway. My thought was to have a hand applique project for travel. Not having done much hand applique, I didn’t have the commons sense to start small. I have learned! The borders traveled with me on several trips and this beauty is finally finished.
Glory Days is about 88 X 88. I freehand machine quilted it on my long arm, used Hobbs washable wool batting and Superior SoFine #50 weight thread. The quilt is square, but the only place to hang it for a photo (raining today) was in the stairwell so the camera is looking down.

You can see I have several helpers for quilt photography!
As I was walking downstairs, I realized the quilting really showed up from that angle so here’s some detail pictures.

I had lots of scraps left over so I whipped up two pillow shams to coordinate with the quilt. One is hand applique and the other is machine stitched but not raw edge. Needed to wrap this project up!!
